So I have been going through serious writer’s block of late. Just too much going on; too much to do. But of course it is at times of overwhelm that one most needs an outlet, whatever that might be.
For some it’s a massage, a walk in nature, a kick-a** workout…For me, it’s quiet and writing. So today I decided to just write. No self-editing, no self-critiquing. Just write. And this is what came out. It’s a work in progress, to be sure, but I have decided that it’s not to shabby:). I like it, and for today, that’s good enough.
Alone I sit at home here at my desk
Enveloped in a haze of happiness
And what, the reader asks, makes you so blessed?
The quiet of my haven’s emptiness
The blissful stillness fills my mind with joy
At last a respite from the hoi polloi
No boisterous banging of the city’s din
Ahhhh…now I savor silent peace within
Free at last to hear my inner voice
And free to exercise my will, my choice
I pull back from the edge of the abyss
And turn instead inside, to my true bliss
